Halloween Costumes for a College Budget

Halloween is almost here, and you know what that means: Costume parties! Costumes in stores can be expensive and unoriginal, so why not make your own? There are tons of do-it-yourself costumes to make that will sure to get attention at social events. These costumes will be cheaper and more unique than ones in stores, and you probably already have some of these items in your closet. Get creative!

  • Baby: Wear footie pajamas and carry a teddy bear or giant bottle.
  • Biker: Wear chaps and a leather jacket, a bandanna, and some shades.
  • Where’s Waldo: Wear a red and white striped t-shirt, a hat, glasses, and jeans.
  • Nerd: Wear a collared shirt, complete with pocket protector and pens and a calculator inside, high-waisted pants with suspenders, and glasses with tape.
  • Tourist: Wear Bright a Hawaiian floral shirt, khaki shorts, and sandals with socks. Carry a map and camera around your neck.
  • School Girl: Wear a white dress shirt, a pleated plaid skirt, and knee-high socks. Wear your hair in braided pigtails.
  • Cowboy: Wear a flannel button-up shirt, faded jeans with a few holes, a cowboy hat, and cowboy boots.
  • Dry cleaning: Put a plastic dry cleaning bag over any outfit you want to wear.
  • Lady Bug: Wear a red dress and attach black polka dotted fabric or felt, and add some wings.
  • Bumble Bee: Wear a yellow dress and attach black stripes with fabric or felt, and add wings.
  • Favorite Movie Characters: Dress in whatever they wear in the movie, or try to get a group together and go as the whole cast!
  • Homeless Person: Wear old ripped, dirty clothes, a winter hat, gloves with the fingertips cut off, and carry a piece of cardboard with “Will work for food” written on it in black marker.
  • Barbie: Wear all pink, pink shoes, pink accessories, a pink headband, and carry a pink purse. Wear bright makeup and lots of it!
